What we handle
Where we step in
Every child deserves a safe, fair school. When the system fails to protect them, we give support, guidance and a voice.
Know your rights
What the law says (India)
A quick guide so you know what is not acceptable.
Right to education
The RTE Act 2009 gives free and compulsory education for ages 6 to 14. A child cannot be held back or expelled in elementary school.
No physical punishment
Section 17 of the RTE Act prohibits physical punishment and mental harassment of children in school.
Protection from abuse
The POCSO Act 2012 protects every child under 18 from sexual offences. Report to police or Childline 1098.
Fair treatment
Schools cannot discriminate by caste, religion, gender or disability. You can also complain to your State Commission for Protection of Child Rights or the NCPCR.
General information only, not legal advice. Rules can differ by state.
